As a DJ, Producer & Artist from Kampala, Uganda, Authentically Plastic’s sound is necessarily political. Between 2018-2023, they ran a roving, riotous, club night called ANTI-MASS; which opened up space for femme & queer artists in Uganda’s increasing- ly repressive social climate. Risk-taking in this political environment has shaped Authentically Plastic’s sound, which has an accelerated, densely layered, improvisational feel.
Their fiery debut album, Raw Space, was released in September 2022, receiving critical acclaim for its fresh urgency and prismatic unpredictability. Authentically Plastic’s sets, at once dark & playful, harbor this same propulsive energy, using Gqom, Noise & Techno as a base for exploring other unknown sounds. Their music is influenced by Northern Ugandan (acholi electronic) rhythms, early acid/industrial experiments, and Afro-futurism.

Having a Libyan mother and a Syrian father, Bader spent his youth between Benghazi & Damascus. When Bader moved to Belgium he studied photography and became a videographer and visual artist, working for numerous artists & brands. He started curating Yalla World wide events in Ghent; bringing the alternative MENA music scene to Belgium. At the same time Bader started dj’ing and producing music with Yalla Soundsystem together with his colleague Acid Ponch. His sound can be described as a symbiose between east and west: bass heavy patterns merge with his own musical heritage from the MENA region. Yalla Soundsystem has a residency and hosts a monthly radio show on the Paris based channel Radio Flouka.

zey is a Vienna-based DJ and event organiser, originally from Prague. Their creativity is a tool of liberation – their own and of others. In relation to their own Black*queer lived experience, they are primarily sharing the sonic emancipatory potentials of queer creatives of the African Diaspora while trying to create safer spaces for QTBIPOC clubbers. Genre is not as important to them as exploring and mapping links between spaces and creating a platform for electronic and bass music from Africa, Euro-American landscapes and Black Latin America. They want to make people dance!

AfroNinja (they/he) is an afrodiasporic viennese Dj and Resident Dj at Kollektiv Ärger. They are driven by the Ambition to promote Queer Club Culture and de-colonize spaces through music and expression of the body. Like their resistance to draw lines on the gender spectrum, they are not confined by genres. They act like a fluid, exploring music where the flow leads, occasionally building focused drops, only for them to break again and make way for something new.
