popular political blog THE WASHINGTON NOTE, and a former staff member of Senator Jeff Bingaman. Clemons is also Senior Fellow and Founder of the American Strategy Program at the New America Foundation, and the former director of the Japan Policy Research Institute. Clemons serves on the Board of Advisors of the C.V. Starr Center for the Study of the American Experience at Washington College in Chestertown, Maryland and the Clarke Center at Dickinson College in Carlisle, Pennsylvania. He is now Washington Editor at Large of THE ATLANTIC. Cyrus Farivar is an Iranian-American freelance technology journalist, as well as a freelance radio reporter and producer. His book “The Internet of Elsewhere” is about the history and effects of the Internet on different countries around the world, including Senegal, Iran, Estonia and South Korea. Livia Klingl is the senior foreign affairs editor and commentator of KURIER. As “special correspondent for difficult countries” she covers upheavals from Eastern Europe to the various hotspots in the Middle East and the Arab world. After studying French at the Vienna and Paris Universities she joined the information division of Austrian Television ORF from 1979 to 1989. She also worked for DER STANDARD covering East and Southeast Europe and the Balkan war. Georg Hoffmann-Ostenhof is the senior foreign affairs editor of the weekly PROFIL and writes a weekly column on global affairs. He studied sociology and political science at the University of Vienna and the University of Michigan. From 1979 to 1991 he was deputy chief editor of ARBEITERZEITUNG. Thomas Hofer is managing partner at H&P Public Affairs, Vienna. He works as a political consultant and public affairs specialist. Hofer received a PhD degree from the University of Vienna and a M.D. from the Graduate School of Political Management in Washington D.C. For seven years he worked as a political journalist for the weekly PROFIL. He published various books on campaign management. Daniela Kraus (moderator) is the managing director of Medienhaus Wien.
