TBA21–Academy is happy to invite you to an artist talk and brunch in the frame of the exhibition “Tidalectics” (opening Friday, June 2, 2017). The exhibition presents works by 13 artists exploring the cultural, political, and biological dimensions of the oceans, some examining the effects of human-made issues while others reimagine human and “more-than-human” relationships.

In the artist talks at TBA21–Augarten, contributors to the show will examine how working within and in relation to an oceanic environment has influenced their creative and personal endeavors. The artists will discuss their experience as participants of TBA21–Academy-led expeditions; they will share the conclusions they have drawn from their travels to the various places TBA21–Academy has explored since the program’s inception in 2011.

Before the talks start at noon, visitors are welcome to enjoy a delicious brunch at Die Au, the restaurant adjacent to TBA21–Augarten. In a spirit of springtime celebration, the talk will unfold outdoors, but can be relocated indoors in case of bad weather.

With Atif Akin, Julian Charrière, Em’kal Eyongakpa, Tue Greenfort, Ariel Guzik, Newell Harry, Eduardo Navarro, Sissel Tolaas, Jana Winderen and Susanne M. Winterling
Moderated by Stefanie Hessler and Markus Reymann
Talk in English, free entry.
Regular prices apply for brunch at Die Au.
