THE FLYING UMBRELLA PROJECT is an outdoor surreal erotic performance that takes place in midair. It not only investigates the new artistic possibilities of flying robots, but also explores the idea of robot pornography.
With a duration of 15 minutes, the performance consists of two robotic flying creatures in the form of umbrellas mating in the air. Audiences would witness their kisses, embraces, caressing as well as the copulation process, and thus to experience the sensuality and lust of these artificial lifeforms remotecontrolled by human operators. At the same time, the robots? gestures, flying motions, and contacts with each other will be converted into audio signals to generate a realtime soundtrack for the performance, creating a synesthetic experience.
