10 skulpturale Interventionen aus den Bereichen der textuellen Bildhauerei und der transmedialen Kunst nehmen in »Significant Other« Bezug auf den architektonischen Kontext des Korea Kulturhauses im Donaupark. Das Gebäude aus dem Jahr 1964 – anlässlich der Wiener Internationalen Gartenschau als Seerestaurant errichtet – bietet mit seinem historischen Bestand aus der Wiener Moderne in Kombination mit Betonelementen der koreanischen Architektur Raum für künstlerische Auseinandersetzung. Nach unterschiedlicher Zwischennutzung, etwa als Disco oder Fitnessclub, wurde es schließlich von der koreanischen Gemeinschaft in Wien als kulturelles Zentrum etabliert. Der Park mit seinem Wegesystem, seinen Plattformen und dem Donauturm sowie die Skyline der Unocity bieten vielfältige Bezugspunkte für Kunst im öffentlichen Raum. Die als Ausstellungsgelände angelegte Landschaftsarchitektur wird zum Ort für zeitgenössische Skulptur.

10 sculptural interventions from the fields of textual sculpture and transmedia art are taking part in the show The Significant Other which is based on the architectural context of the Korean Cultural Centre in Vienna's Danube Park. The building, which was constructed in 1964 on the occasion of the Vienna International Horticultural Show, with its combination of historic Wiener Moderne style architecture and concrete elements typical for Korean architecture forms the perfect backdrop for artistic engagement. The structure, after serving various interim purposes, such as a nightclub and a fitness studio, was eventually established as the cultural centre for the Korean community in Vienna. The surrounding park features an extended path network, raised platforms, the Danube Tower and the skyline of the headquarters of the United Nations and thus offers multiple reference points for public art. The landscape architecture originally designed as an exhibition space is now being transformed into a place for contemporary sculpture.
