Uraufführungen
"Over the course of 'Occupy the Museum', dance artists will focus on the agency of exhibition and display and undoing the ethnographic. Through interviews with the labour around the museum, the power construction of heritage will be re-performed by the occupiers. The occupiers will focus on the creation of value and its circulation by the empire."

"Getanzte Schöpfung - Asien zwischen den Welten": Die aktuelle Ausstellung des neu konzipierten Weltmuseums bildet den Rahmen für ein besonderes Gastspiel des ImPulsTanz Festivals: "Occupy the Museum" ist eines der choreografischen Projekte, die in diesem Rahmen zu sehen sein werden.
In den Tiefen der Hofburg arbeiten 14 KünstlerInnen an einem performativen Dialog mit ethnologischen Objekten und Ideen aus dem Museumsdepot. Sie erarbeiten vor Ort Unikate für das Festival und erobern mit ihren Projekten die Abteilungen des Museums. Performance im Format und im Kontext einer Ausstellungsanordnung – das Performative kann seine Wirkung in ungewohnter Umgebung überprüfen. Das Publikum behält seine ambulante Begegnungsweise im musealen Rahmen. Die lebendige Ausstellung führt uns in üblicherweise verschlossene und stillgelegte Räumlichkeiten des Hofburgtrakts.

Dieses Projekt wird kuratiert von Ong Keng Sen, Regisseur aus Singapur, und Michael Stolhofer von ImPulsTanz.
Programmhinweis: Performative Künstlergespräche
Parallel zum ImPulsTanz-Gastspiel im Weltmuseum laden im Rahmen der aktuellen Ausstellung "Getanzte Schöpfung" Ong Keng Sen und drei weitere Tanz- und Theatermacher Asiens zu "Performativen Künstlergesprächen".
The Agency of Display – Brand New Postcolonial Souvenirs
1) PENACHO-Ritual
When the Mexican government demanded the restitution of the Penacho-Headdress, this failed due to the fear, that this could set a precedent, with the consequence that all other ancestral objects would have to be returned to their place of origin. In the frame of PENACHO-Ritual dead gods will come to live and the Wiener Weltmuseum will turn into a Mexica-Temple. The ritualized sacrifice of high-ranking representatives of the Museum is an attempt to restore the cosmic order.
PENACHO-Ritual is a homage to all repressed, transformed and lost perspectives of the different people of this world.
2) RONGO-RONGO-Tour
In the frame of the RONGO-RONGO-Tour the audience will be invited into the depths of the depot of the Wiener Weltmuseum, which are usually not open to the public. Down there two Easter Islanders will interact with the figures/gods of their ancestors. The depot is a symbol for European conceptions of order: here it's not about encountering, but about conserving the other.
