We were invited to do an exhibition.
Later on, it was explained to us that usually there is some kind of bar for the opening, and that maybe we could re-open the windows in the backroom, that were closed up some time ago, and the windows in the front, which should be able to open up, but for which there is no key.
One day we saw some photos of the buildup of the previous exhibition. There was a visual resemblance between the two main materials that was being used, so it seemed obvious to make the bar with them.
It reminded us of some of our projects, where we also used two materials with a visual resemblance as a starting point. So, we thought, this being an exhibition on our work, it would make sense to display those material diptychs too.
At the moment we still can’t think of a good reason not to open the windows.
sugiberry is an architectural practice based in Brussels, that was founded in 2016 by Johannes Berry and Mayu Takasugi. They have realized projects in Belgium, South Africa and Japan, with ongoing projects in Belgium, South Africa and the United States of America.
