For his first solo exhibition at Charim, Julian Göthe has created a new body of work consisting of drawings, prints, plaster reliefs, and a sculpture, which are brought into relation through a scenographic arrangement of ropes.
Motivically, he draws on a repertoire that frequently appears in his work: destabilized symbols of power, the erotic charge of objects, and the play with perspective. These elements condense into a network of formal, conceptual, and emotional references—between illusionism and theatricality, where three-dimensionality and flatness interpenetrate and dissolve.
