Hylut
Experimentelle Musik
Hylut is a solo project by Lithuanian artist and composer Marija Jociūtė. In her performances she uses sounds – generated by synthesizers and drum machines, enriched by field recordings as well and her own voice. For her Kultursommer performance Hylut takes into account the location – choosing and processing certain sounds from the park to be an integral part of the musical material. The outcome of this approach is a unique sonic evocation that does not confine itself to a single genre. Hylut’s sound could be described as compositions of sporadic rhythms, gentle vocals and rich distortion.
Marija Jociūtė is a Vienna based artist, composer and performer, working across multiple media (sound, photography, installation). She has graduated in photography and media arts / interdisciplinary arts at the Academy of Arts in Vilnius. Her practice is research-oriented and currently revolves around the possibilities of experimental electronic sound performance.
