VASSILIS H. - “WORKS AND DAYS”
ERÖFFNUNG/OPENING: FREITAG, 22. MÄRZ 2013, 19 Uhr
GALLERY & CURATOR’S TALK: 18 Uhr
CURATED BY CHRISTOFOROS MARINOS
The work of Vassilis H. consists of paintings and sculpture with references to typologies and morphological details of architectural movements of the 20th century (Bauhaus, constructivism, de stijl).
His latest work is an attempt to connect sculpture, painting and photography. He creates artwork that bridges the past with the present, not only in terms of form, but also by evoking a dialogue between the sociopolitical concepts of the modernist movements with contemporary history and culture. Space and time are redefined through geometric harmony and the rough texture of the colored surfaces.
VASSILIS H. (Athens 1977) lives and works in Athens and is a graduate of the School of Fine Arts in Athens and of the Sheffield College of Arts (UK). He has presented his work in the solo exhibition Iconomachia in Michael Steinberg Fine Art Project Space, New York, 2009 and in Black Tan Fantasy, with George Theodorides, Remap 2, curated by Galini Noti 2007, as well as in many group exhibitions in Athens, and abroad, including “Garden of Eden” at Palais de Tokyo, Paris and “Petrosphere 2” at Glasgow International festival.
