Im Mai/Juni 2014 ist Farah Saleh choreographer in residence am Tanzquartier Wien. In einem mehrteiligen Abend wird die in Syrien geborene, in Ramallah ansässige und international tätige Choreografin und Tänzerin Einblicke in ihre Recherche- und Produktionsprozesse geben.

“Sending flowers to the beloved one seems to be the easiest thing in the world, just as going out for dinner or walking hand in hand. But sometimes things happen differently. In Palestine, experiencing love is not always easy. And it’s even more complicated if a Palestinian from Gaza falls in love with someone who is not from the strip. But from Ramallah for example, sister city (yet) not twin. (…)”

Im Anschluss an die Performance Parole, parole, parole… erläutert Farah Saleh in ihrer Lecture den Kontext zeitgenössischen Tanzschaffens in Palästina und die Möglichkeiten, die künstlerische Produktion als eine Form alltäglichen Widerstands bereithält. Im Mittelpunkt ihrer aktuellen Recherchen steht dabei die Frage, inwieweit KünstlerInnen die Meinung der Menschen widerspiegeln und sich der Gesellschaft anpassen oder vielmehr die Stimme erheben und Veränderung antreiben und inspirieren sollten.
