“PussyBarbecue” is a project in form of collaboration between the Brazilian artists Roberta Lima (lives and works in Vienna), Marissa Lobo (lives and works in Vienna and Linz), and Pedro Costa (lives and works in Berlin). The collaboration will happen through meetings in the space of schneiderei and during the period of three weeks. The final presentation of “PussyBarbecue” will include various media, like video, installation, sculpture, and live performance - planned to happen in the context of a barbecue.
The main goal is to fully use the space of Schneiderei - including the garden, located in the back of the gallery - to make the barbecue. “PussyBarbecue” will appropriate from social rites, as well as of music genres (such as “funk carioca”), and Brazilian/Portuguese language for subverting the meaning of barbecue (in Brazil: “churrasco”, or “churrasquinho de gato”): transforming it into a “PussyBarbecue”, redefining the space of performative as filthy, fun and blurring the lines of queer and feminist theory and diaspora epistemologies from South America.
