In Kooperation mit VIS Vienna Independent Shorts zeigt Perfekt World Arbeiten des französischen Streetartkünstlers Bault, welche während seines Aufenthalts als Artist-in-Residence des quartier21 entstehen. Zu sehen sind seine Werke in der Galerie PERFEKT BOX in der Electric Avenue im MQ – MuseumsQuartier Wien.

PERFEKT WORLD and VIS - Vienna Independent Shorts are proud to exhibit the french streetartist Bault at the collectives showroom PERFEKT BOX in Viennas renowned MQ. Bault is part of the quartier21’s Artist-in-Residence program and will show work he created during his stay in Vienna.

Bault
1997 begann Baults Künstlerkarriere als Graffiti-Writer im Süden Frankreichs, wo er die T.K. Crew gründet und später mit den T.S.H und F.D.P in Avignon in Verbindeng kommt. Die Dosen zur Seite gelegt verschiebt sich in den folgenden Jahren der Fokus auf die Bereiche Grafik, Illustration, Kurzfilm und Animation. Die Prioritäten von nächtlichen Streifzügen auf Arbeiten im Innenraum verlagert wird pausenlos gescribbled und gezeichnet. Bault entwickelt einen unverwechselbaren Character-Style, inspiriert durch Schauerbilder der ersten Jahrmarkt-Lichtspiele in Frankreich des 18. Jahrhunderts. Skelette, Dämonen, Geister, Rauch und Phantastische Welten – Ein Kabinett der Kuriositäten erfüllt von mutierenden Monstern und grotesken Figuren. Eine Art „zeitgenössische Phantasmagorie“, wie er seine Malerei bezeichnet.

Bault started out as an enthusiastic Graffiti Artist and long-term tagger back in 1997 in the South of France. He made his debut in Sète forming the T.K crew, and then met the well-known French Graffiti crews, T.S.H and F.D.P in Avignon. Bault abandoned his late night trips, and put down the cans for ten whole years. He started focusing more on his “indoor” works, producing rather graphic and illustrative pieces alongside a collection of unusual videos and animations. All the while, Bault was always scribbling or doodling something, and his tagging/lettering style seemed to fade away. He moved on to creating a family of characters, carving
out a signature style for himself. He found inspiration in an old type of “theatre” called Phantasmagoria, which started in France in the 18th century. A modified magic lantern was used to project frightening images of things such as skeletons, demons, and ghosts onto walls, smoke, or semi-transparent screens. Over many years, Bault has developed what he likes to call, “A cabinet of curiosities, mutating monsters, grotesque characters and polluted environments. My creatures are often amputated, bloated and incomplete – I like to think of them as a kind of, contemporary phantasmagoria.”
