The Performances simply involves the act of instructing a person to perform certain movements or gestures, tell me what to do introduces a relationship between two live performers. The artists becomes part of the performance appearing as the author who gives the instructions for the second person. Within the piece though, the instructors and receivers relationship is being subverted and both artist and performer appear as instructing forces. The real life relationship between the two plays as much a role for the outcome of each piece as personal mood and on site circumstances. Since the piece is neither scripted nor rehearsed it preserves an intimate, fragile atmosphere that is defined by a quasi live talk between two individuals.
