The Department of Visual Cultures, Institute of Art and Design at the TU Wien is pleased to welcome Joseph Henry of Sound Advice for a lecture open to the public on Monday, 31.10 at 18:00. The lecture will take place in seminar room AC0440 at the Technical University Campus at Karlsplatz.
It is nothing new to declare that for us music, gesture, dance are forms of communication, just as important as the gift of speech. This is how we first managed to emerge from the plantation: aesthetic form in our cultures must be shaped from these oral structures.”
– Édouard Glissant
Sound Advice will discuss how our practice embeds music culture to explore new models of spatial practice. Our work takes inspiration from the idea that music is the foundational element of creativity which is the bridge to other modes of cultural expression - in this case, architecture.
