This exhibition offers ironic reflections from post-Mexican art, exploring statements and posing incisive questions regarding the dystopian context of contemporary Mexico, immersed in a complex network of problems that make up the micro-politics that administer violence and death, from multiple choreographies, some gore and others subtle.
Child labour and exploitation, feminicide, systemic corruption, discrimination, cuir transfeminisms, economic inequality, extractivism, are some of the themes that the artists address in their works, sometimes through exaggeration and sometimes through ritual.
The artists mock corrupt institutions and hegemony, demystifying figures of power and exposing the contradictions that exist in Mexican society. This irony serves not only as a means of artistic expression, but also as a reminder of the importance of questioning and challenging the status quo.
Participating artists: Afrika Love, Amapola, Anahí Juárez, Brenda Martínez de Ávila, Cuaco Navarro, Ek Xander, Erika Mayoral, Leonardo Díaz Guerrero, Luis Alfonso Villalobos, Marco Rountree Cruz, Mario Wandu, Pablo H. Cobián, Renée Abaroa, Rubén Mendez, Syndell Razo
“El diente de oro” is a group exhibition of Mexican artists curated by Save The Artist (Mario Wandu + Cuaco Navarro) and presented by the platform 6METROScuadrados, initiated and curated by the artist Guadalupe Aldrete.
