Étienne Yver is mainly a painter, but also a stage designer and a sculptor. He was born in 1955 in Caen (France). He has exhibitions since 1980. He has been invited by various foundations in France and abroad, but he now lives in Paris. His work is a meditation on the place of man in our world, on mental and psychological plans through his body, flesh and desire. His researches concentrate on different directions : the interrelations of his own artistic practice and literature (Sophocles, Khayyam, Shakespeare, Michel-Ange, La Fontaine, Mallarmé, Apollinaire, Garcîa Lorca, Yassin Adnan or Philippe Macaigne); the interactions with music (Mozart, Satie, Greif, Forget, Gasparov, Bacri, Campo…), or dance, opera and theatre.
