sehnen/sinews … transfer information to the locomotor system, connect muscles and bones, transmit tension and relaxation. sehnen/longing … to have a wish, to turn towards, to measure oneself in one’s relation to the Other, to recognise oneself in one’s own alienness. sehnen: connection of places, persons – manifestation and creation of space at the same time.
In his new piece, Paul Wenninger follows the movement of being entangled with each other, and investigates what informs and conditions the body – structurally, emotionally, choreographically. In dialogue with a composition by Peter Jakober and Teziana Bertoncini, and in a space designed by Leo Schatzl, S E H N E N sets out from those moments in which the conditions and influences of our life meet in all their dissimilarity, and where the quality and intensity of our togetherness are in flux: How can we get involved with each other if our surroundings are constantly changing? How to follow this movement of sehnen, which is so hard to locate yet so distinct?
